What Acupuncture Treats

What does Acupuncture Treat?

…and how does it work?

While it’s true that Acupuncture treats pain, we can now explain how it does so: by releasing endorphins, a natural pain-reducing chemical in the body while improving circulation and releasing muscle tension. The by-product of this is bringing needed oxygen to the afflicted area while releasing toxins that had been stuck in the muscles (we call that stagnation).  Once this happens it’s easy to see how a person can get long-lasting relief. That’s the good news.  The better news is that, when acupuncture for pain is administered by a Licensed Acupuncturist, it is virtually pain-free! In fact, it is a profoundly relaxing experience. Over fifty percent of patients literally fall asleep during treatment; it’s that relaxing

Aside from its ability to ease inflammation and ease pain, Acupuncture also acts as a sort of emotional reset button. This allows a practitioner to relieve digestive discomfort, ease emotional dislocation and reset the mind/body in sleep disorders. Among the modalities within the scope of our treatment  to treat pain and discomfort is  Cupping. Dr. Daniel Bernstein has been a licensed acupuncturist since 1995.  He began his career at the New York Center for Pain Management. While there, he was able to utilize many of the methods he had learned to help people get relief for post-operative pain, sports related trauma, chronic muscle pain and repetitive stress injuries. Acupuncture can stimulate the body’s own anti-inflammatory hormones to provide relief from such diverse syndromes as sciatica, arthritis to crippling migraines.
