Fertility, And Its Link To Stress
We hear about the mind-body connection, but until recently fertility was only rarely considered part that process. And yet stress plays a huge role—and a negative one—in a woman’s ability to conceive. A woman under undue stress can experience any one of numerous physical responses, including loss of period. The use of Hypnosis serves various functions in the fertility process: Among other things, it can help relax both the man and the woman so as to make fertility less of a duty and more the joyful act of love it really is.
Negative thoughts can biochemically impact on the hypothalamus. This gland has a direct biochemical response on the pituitary gland. The pituitary acts on the reproductive organs, secreting both Follicle Secreting Hormone (FSH) and Leutenizing Hormone (LH) which release estrogen and lead to ovulation.
The pituitary glands also interact with the adrenal glands, and the stress hormones they release can cause spasms of the fallopian tubes, which is where the fertilization takes place.
Unexplained infertility is one of the five causes of fertility issues (the others being Ovarian, fallopian, uterine and the Male partner). It is no stretch to imagine that the mind is powerful enough to impact on fertility, especially when negative thoughts may be involved. Under hypnosis one may address issues that might not otherwise be dealt with: financial concerns, parenting fears, previous miscarriages, fear of delivery, sex trauma, etc., etc. Only by addressing these issues head on can they be eased and even conquered through hypnosis.
A client can learn self-hypnosis so that during assisted fertilization—IVF or IUI (intrauterine insemination) a client may go into trance and become more comfortable during the procedure than she might otherwise have been.
Hypnosis can double the rate of success of IVF. What? Don’t believe me? Click here for a fascinating study that proves it.
